Ready to Get Dirty? Mud Run Coming to Heritage Park

Get ready to get dirty when Mud Mania comes to Simpsonville next month.

The mud run craze is coming to Simpsonville.

No longer content to merely run road races, mud runs pit runners against obstacle courses laden with icky, gooey, slippery mud. It's great fun for the runners and, compared to typical races, fun for spectators as well.

The first-ever "Mud Mania" mud run will be coming to Simpsonville's Heritage park on April 20 at 8 a.m. The event will feature a 5K mud run through more than 20 obstacles. In addition, there will also be a special mini Mud Mania course for children under 8, and a post-race celebration, organizers said.

Teams of four will compete with numerous obstacles winding through woods and fields, over and under walls, and in and out of the mud. Because of its setting at Heritage Park, organizers said the fun will be easily viewable by spectators.

The cost to enter a team is $80. Teams should register before April 1 at www.ghs.org/mudmania.

Teams can consist of the following combinations:

  • All male
  • All female
  • 50/50 (two male and two females)
  • Three male and one female
  • Three female and one male
  • Family (at least one team member age 8-17)

Race proceeds will go to support the Hillcrest Memorial Hospital and the city of Simpsonville.
