Simpsonville Teacher Named "Emerging Teacher of the Year"

Lindsey Arnold, an Agricultural Science teacher at Bryson Middle School in Simpsonville, has been named an "emerging" teacher of the year, Greenville County Schools announced.

The Emerging Teachers of the Year Program, sponsored by Greenville Federal Credit Union, recognizes two second- or third-year teachers for outstanding performance. Each winner receives $500, a crystal award, and $500 for their school.

In addition to naming Anne Kelsey-Zibert, history teacher at Northwest Middle School the 2013-14 Greenville County Teacher of the Year, Superintendent W. Burke Royster announced Arnold as one of the two Emerging Teachers of the Year (joined by Kaitlyn Campbell, music teacher at Alexander Elementary).

"Arnold holds her Agricultural Science students to high standards for involvement, education, and lifelong learning," the district said in announcing Arnold's award. "As the only active middle school agricultural education program in the state, her students have been introduced to archery training, Future Farmers of America leadership ideals, equine evaluation, tool identification, and dairy evaluations. 

"Students earn top honors at conventions and competitions," the district citation continued.  "Ms. Arnold uses a positive approach in rewarding students for doing a good job academically as well as for their many projects around the school and community. Her dedication and numerous contributions have forged strong relationships with parents as well as served to engage students in active learning."
