Gov. Haley Proclaims "Candice Glover Day" in SC

Haley makes the proclamation in honor of the American Idol finalist, who is in the state for a celebratory weekend.

It's been quite a week for Candice Glover.

First, the St. Helena Island, SC, native made it as a top 3 finalist on American Idol on Thursday night, Second, this weekend she's in her native Lowcountry to perform a celebratory concert and appear in a parade in her honor in Beaufort.

And on Saturday, Gov. Nikki Haley officially proclaimed "Candice Glover Day" throughout the state.

In the proclamation (attached), Haley urged the state to watch and vote for Glover as she attempts to win the Idol contest.

Glover, who auditioned twice before making it on the show on her third attempt, has been performing since the age of 4.

"I can't believe this is happening," Glover said of the 125 or so fans who showed up for her arrival Friday night in Hilton Head, the Island Packet newspaper reported. 

"I'm super excited to be here. I can't wait till tomorrow," said Glover, who added that she thinks she can win. "I believe in myself."

Glover said her favorite performances on the show so far were her renditions of The Cure's "Lovesong" and Tom Jones' "I Who Have Nothing," both of which garnered national media attention and received high marks from the "Idol" judges.
