Simpsonville Police have identified the man who led them on a short car chase Thursday night before crashing his vehicle and fleeing on foot, Capt. Kevin Threlkeld said.

Threlkeld identified the suspect as David Patrick Suber of Fountain Inn. He is described as a 44-year-old black male, 5 feet 7 inches, and 200 lbs.

Suber has outstanding warrants for disregarding a stop sign, driving under suspension, and failure to stop for blue lights, Threlkeld said.

Police said they attempted to stop Suber's white Volvo for a traffic violation in the Hunters Woods subdivision at 9:14 p.m. Thursday. The driver stopped the vehicle and then sped away as the officer was exiting his patrol vehicle. After a short pursuit the driver ran into a tree on Willowbranch Dr. and then fled on foot.

Suber left behind two injured female passengers who were taken to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment, Threlkeld said.
