Obit: Sara Godfrey of Simpsonville

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Sarah Clinton Godfrey, wife of Edwin Hammond Godfrey for 59 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 30, 2013.

Mrs. Godfrey was born in Ireland to the late Robert Charles Clinton and Sarah Jane Grant Clinton. She was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Hope Presbyterian Church. She was an alumnus of the Philadelphia College of the Bible.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Edwin Godfrey (Vicki), and William Godfrey (Terri); three brothers, Robert Clinton, Edward Clinton, and William Clinton; five sisters, Elizabeth McKnight, Margaret Kulp, Florence Kusmaul, Ruth McElwee, and Lois Szakacs; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Hugh Clinton; and a baby sister, Mary Clinton.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Mark Evans, Rev. Greg Ince, and Rev. Robert Clinton. Entombment, with Military Honors, will be in the mausoleum at Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service.
