Obit: Frances Brashier of Simpsonville

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Simpsonville United Methodist Church.

Frances P. Brashier, 94, of Simpsonville, died Tuesday October 1, 2013, at Rolling Green Village. She is survived by her daughter Ginger and husband Bob Thompson of Southern Pines, NC; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Brashier; her daughter, Thalia Elizabeth (Beth) Brashier Peterson; her brother, Wilton B. Pollard, of Hampton, VA; and parents Samuel T. and Thalia B. Pollard. She was a lifelong resident of Greenville County.

She graduated from Lander College in 1940 and received a library science degree in 1972 from Furman University. She taught English and History in the Laurens and Greenville County Public School Systems and was a librarian at Hillcrest High School, retiring in 1984. She was active in the Simpsonville UMC and was a long-time teacher of the Thalia B. Pollard Sunday School class.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Simpsonville United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Joel Jones. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Burial will then follow in the Simpsonville City Cemetery. Friends may visit Fletcher Funeral Service on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. - 12 noon for viewing of the body.
