Obit: C. Fred Bagwell

Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16.

Columbus Freddie Bagwell, 76, husband of Donna Bothfeld Bagwell, of Mauldin, died Saturday, October 12, 2013.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Claude and Reb Roach Bagwell.

A graduate of Parker High School Class of 1954, Mr. Bagwell served in the United States Army during the Berlin Air Lift.

He retired from Kemet Corporation after 28 years of service as a mechanical engineer.

Mr. Bagwell was a member of Dunean Lodge #359 and the Hejaz Shrine where he was Captain of the Guard.

He was Past Captain of Hejaz Marching Patrol; Past President of Southeastern Shrine Marching Patrol; Past Captain of Hejaz Provost Guard, and Past President of Southeastern Provost Guard. 

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 56 years, are three daughters, Cheri Free and husband Brad, and Frieda Hughes and fiancée David Calvert, all of Anderson, and Kimberly Barton and husband David, of Powdersville; a son, William Bagwell, of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Lyndsey Walden and husband John, Kari Perry and husband Eric, Megan Hughes, Drew, Jonathan and Shane Bagwell and wife, Socorro, and David and Christie Barton; six great-grandchildren, Jett and Caleigh Walden, Alyssa, Aliyah, and Alayna Morris, and Carson Bagwell; two sisters, Louise Rabb and husband Bobby, and Cynthia West, and two brothers, David and Herman Bagwell.

Mr. Bagwell was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Bagwell.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC. The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in the Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.
