Legendary Rock Band The Who Coming to the Upstate

Get ready for some maximum R&B, Upstate: Classic-rock monsters, The Who, are coming to town.

The band has announced that it will make Greenville one of the stops in its 2012 North American tour. The band will touch down at the Bi-Lo Center on Nov. 8. Tickets are now on sale (see below).

The band plans to perform its rock opera, Quadrophenia, in its entirety. Once concluded, the band also is anticipated to play several hits from its extensive catalog.

The Who's Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend announced their upcoming North American Tour during an online media conference from their home base in London.

"I love going back to ‘Quadrophenia' always," Townshend said. "It's a passion of mine."

The Who will be touring North America for the first time in four years and performing "Quadrophenia" for the first time since 1997.

"Quadrophenia" was the sixth studio album from The Who, their second rock opera after "Tommy." The narrative tells the story of a teenage boy, Jimmy, struggling with personal issues contrasted with the tense social climate of London and Brighton in the mid-’60s.

Hits from the album include "The Real Me" and the anthemic "Love, Reign o’er Me." It was adapted into a film in 1979.
