Hey Simpsonville: 5 Things to do This Weekend

Dancing, zombies, polo, and a 5th of Beethoven highlight this weekend in the Golden Strip.

Friday, Oct. 19:

Put on your dancing shoes…. The Top Hat Band will be laying down the tunes during Simpsonville Rec's Friday Night Fling. The "covered dish dance" will take place from 6-9:30 p.m. tonight at the Simpsonville Activity & Senior Center, 310 W. Curtis St. Advance tix are $10, or $15 at the door. Skipping dinner? Saturday, Oct. 20:

It's the Zombie Apocalypse! Well sorta…. Enjoy games, face painting, and a zombie walk with the kiddies from 2-4 p.m. at the Kerry Ann Younts Culp Branch Library, 311 N. Main St., in Fountain Inn. Registration required. For info, call 864-862-2576.

Buy some flowers…. The Mauldin Garden Club will be selling daffodil bulbs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays throughout the fall planting season. Get your bulbs at the Log Cabin at the Mauldin Cultural Center, 101 E. Butler Road. You can purchase pre-packed bags of 25 solid yellow bulbs, or the official "Mauldin Mix," which consists of orange, white, yellow, and pink, for $12.50 each. Catch some culture…. The Fountain Inn Center for the Visual & Performing Arts' resident Symphony Orchestra will be performing Beethoven's 5th Symphony at 7:30 p.m. at the center, located at 315 N. Sunday, Oct. 21:

Enjoy some horse hockey…. The inaugural Polo Classic will begin at 2 p.m. at historic Hopkins Farm, 3717 Fork Shoals Road, Simpsonville. The event will benefit the new GHS Neuroloical Institute.
