No need to stray far to find activities to fill your weekend calendar

Looking to gawk at some awesome Christmas light displays? Be sure to check out the Roper Mountain Holiday Lights, which runs through Dec. 30. In addition to the 1.5 mile drive through the lights, park and stroll through an interactive Winter Wonderland with Santa Claus and his sleigh, lighted walking trails, balloon artist, giant holiday greeting cards, concessions and more. The Spirit of Christmas Past celebration will continue each evening throughout this weekend in downtown Fountain Inn, featuring horse carriage rides, ice skating, model train exhibit, Christmas decoration contest, and more. A complete schedule is at fountaininned.org/community.

Maybe you're too busy this weekend, but want some mid-week Christmas cheer? Train rides, Santa, Christmas lights, and hot chocolate will be featured during Christmas at Heritage Park, 861 S.E. Main Street, Simpsonville, from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 18-21. Rides are $2 per person with children 2 and younger riding free. For info call 864-967-9533.

Fountain Inn Center for the Vsual and Performing Arts, 315 N. Main Street, will present "Miracle on 34th Street" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14-15, and 3 p.m. Dec. 16. Tix are $18, $15, and $10. Call 864-409-1050, or visit ftinnarts.org.

The Miniature World of Trains Christmas Display 2012 will be open from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Dec. 15, and 1-9 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Fountain Inn History Museum, 102 Depot Street. Tix are $5 for adults, $3 for children, $3 for seniors (55 and up) and military with ID.
