Young Simpsonville Couple Reunite After Deployment

Spc. Kris Lacer returns home from Afghanistan in time for Christmas with his newlywed and Mauldin High sweetheart, Emilee.

Kris and Emilee Lacer were married just a few scant weeks before war called him away last December. This time, however, the young soldier and his bride will get to spend this Christmas together.

The Simpsonville couple, who met and fell in love as Mauldin High School students, were reunited over the weekend following Lacer's deployment to Afghanistan, according to WYFF. Wife, Emilee, and family and friends, welcomed Lacer home at the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.

"We've been married for a year, but were only together for three weeks of it," Lacer said. Emilee said the couple depended on letters and Skype to help bridge the distance.

The soldier, a paratrooper with the 51st Airborne's Bravo Compnay, said he is looking forward to time with his wife and family before the couple move to Alaska to complete his military duty.
