Hundreds Gather Locally to Honor Veterans

Folks from Simpsonville, Mauldin and other localities came out in big numbers on Sunday to honor service members at Simpsonville's Veteran's Memorial park downtown.

With a field of flags surrounding them, several hundred people came to Simpsonville on Sunday afternoon to honor members of the nation's armed services at a Veterans Day salute at the city's Veteran's Memorial park.

Listening to patriotic songs, and hearing speeches from Mayor and veteran Perry Eichor, along with a mother whose daughter died as a pilot serving in Iraq, veterans old and young along with their families and others, paid their respects to service members from the nation's five major military branches.
