A car hit and killed a Simpsonville cyclist early Thursday morning, according to state troopers and the county coroner's office.
The accident happened at around 2:19 a.m. on Fairview Road.
The coroner's office identified the deceased cyclist as 21-year-old Matthew Borkowski of Simpsonville, who was reportedly riding his bicycle enroute to a friend's house. Borkowski died at Greenville Memorial Hospital at 10:22 a.m.
According to deputy coroner Kent Dill, Borkowski, who used his bike as his primary means of transportation, was not wearing a helmet or any reflective clothing, WYFF reported.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident and no charges have been filed.
