Lattimore Will Attend USC's Pro Day

Gamecock's star running back will attempt to impress NFL scouts as he rehabs severely injured knee.

His draft prospects still in limbo, former USC and Byrnes High star running back Marcus Lattimore said he plans to attend South Carolina's pro day March 27 as he continues to successfully rehab a shattered knee.

Lattimore told The Associated Press on Tuesday he plans to talk with interested NFL teams, perhaps catch a few passes and lift weights at the yearly pre-draft workout.

Once a sure-fire first-round pick by most analysts, Lattimore has been mounting a campaign to assure prospective NFL teams he is worthy of their pick following surgery to repair a severely damaged right knee injured this past season against Tennessee.

He recently attended the NFL combine in Indianapolis and has been meeting privately with several NFL teams, most recently the Philadelphia Eagles, where former USC running back Duce Staley is an assistant coach.

If selected in the draft, or signed as an undrafted free agent, Lattimore likely would sit out his rookie season to further heal, though his doctor has said he has made miraculous strides in his quest to regain his former glory. Lattimore has said he expects to be able to begin running full speed as early as next month.
